Back in 1999 I knew Universal Creative (aka Universal's version of
Imagineering) was a company division that I would need to keep my eye on.
Islands of Adventure (IOA) at the Universal Orlando Resort started this way of thinking and I quickly considered the park as one of the best ever built. I often proclaimed that the Spider-Man attraction at IOA is worth the price of a plane and hotel stay alone.
This year I
experienced the real version of The Mummy Ride, the Men in Black dark ride, and
the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. All created by Universal Creative, but all
for the Orlando Park.
When would
Hollywood get some love? We got a very poor version of The Mummy attraction, a
horrible Fast And Furious tram experience, and a Simpson’s overlay for what use
to be Back to the Future.
However, things
started to take a turn in 2011 with the King Kong 3D tram experience and then
this year’s Transformers 3D Ride. So what did I
think of Transformers the Ride? (No spoilers)
