Disneyland: Losing a bit of History

A staple of the Disneyland Magic is now over and unfortunately most people never knew it existed. I am speaking of the Carnation Plaza at Disneyland. This quiet little nook during the day existed between the front of the castle and the side entrance of Frontierland for over 55 years.

However, it was the night's entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights that brought the people in to dance the night away. The location played period specific music (jazz and swing) that fit the Main Street theme perfectly and was the rare thing at Disneyland that made it different than any other theme park in the world.

In its place a marketing location called Fantasy Faire will allow guests to meet the Disney Princesses during the day and the dancing will once again return at night. I know that this news will be a good thing to most, but to me I think it won't have the same feeling as it did before. What I think Disney should do is move it to the Paradise Pier Pizza & Grill area at California Adventure and if it does not take off they can bring it back to Disneyland.

New Dancing Location
Lastly, not all is lost. With this move it opens up a nice space where the Fantasyland Theater now sits. Sure they are currently looking to bring a new show in, but from what I hear this location will be prime real estate for a Beauty and the Beast type village and dining attraction which is already going into the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
Coming to Disneyland?
