California Adventure: California Screamin we have a problem

Some of you may have heard how a bag fell onto the track on 7/22 and caused a vehicle to valley between the end of the loop and the hill. Here is a video of the incident...

Tip of the Week: Billy Hill and the Hillbillies

If you are in the mood to try something different the next time you go to Disneyland, I would highly recommend that you take a side trip to the Golden Horseshoe in Frontierland and check out the Billy and the Hillbillies Band. It is great fun and if you are hungry you can have a pretty good meal as you watch the show

Disney Parks: D23 Imagineering Theme

Disney has given some more details about what you can expect from the Disney Parks Division at D23.

You have the hour and a half presentation from Tom Staggs on August 19th. Plus the side panels that will include:
  • Radiator Springs Reality: Imagineering Cars Land for Disney California Adventure—Join Disney/Pixar's John Lasseter and a panel of Imagineers and Pixar creative talent as they share the twists and turns through the real-life development of Radiator Springs.
  • The Making of Star Tours - The Adventures Continue—Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald will share the inside scoop on how Walt Disney Imagineering and George Lucas' Industrial Light & Magic began laying the groundwork for a new version of Star Tours.
  • A Good Look at Buena Vista Street—Imagineers Lisa Girolami, Ray Spencer, and Coulter Winn provide a preview of the new entrance to Disney California Adventure, an idealized depiction of the Los Angeles Walt Disney lived and worked in throughout the 1920s and 1930s.
  • Imagineering the Dream and the Fantasy—Imagineers Joe Lanzisero and Bob Zalk talk about charting the design course of the two newest Disney cruise ships.
  • Legends of Walt Disney Imagineering—Disney Legend Marty Sklar will lead a celebration of the careers and accomplishments of Walt Disney Imagineering, including Alice Davis, Orlando Ferrante, Bob Gurr, and Don Iwerks. With special guest and current Imagineer Kim Irvine, daughter of Disney Legend Leota Toombs.

Tour Reports - 7/16/2011

I have given these type of tours for over five years, but on July 16th we had Mouse Expedition's first ever "OFFICIAL" tour.

My Lucky Oswald Tshirt
A gentleman contacted me about a month ago showing interest in what ME (Mouse Expedition) had to offer. He and his friend were planning a trip in July and they wanted to have a great Disneyland Resort experience. This included the two park plan with expectation that they will be able to ride Star Tours multiple times. I know that asking a complete stranger (me) to help show them around Disneyland is not the easiest thing to agree too, but they were willing to give it a try.

Once the date was agreed upon we started to talk about the plan in general...

Disney Parks: Walt Disney World's Little Mermaid Attraction

Disney is set to open its Little Mermaid attraction at WDW toward the end of 2012 and even though the main concept will be similar to the California Adventure version, there will be some slight changes to the queue and of course the themed building.

Here is the video from Imagineering

Disney Parks: The Next Walt Disney?

Mr. John Lasseter has been regarded as this generations Walt Disney. His Disney Connection is quite strong from working at Disneyland as a Jungle Cruise Skipper, going to the Disney made Cal Arts School to learn animation, for working at Disney Feature Animation, to the head of Pixar, and now he has his input into Disney Animation, Pixar, and Disney parks. The guy has done it all and seems to know what the Disney Legacy is about.

Below you will find a nice video of the personal side of his life, including his awesome home.

Tip of the Week: Where to Watch World of Color without a Fastpass

The opening of the Little Mermaid Attraction at California Adventure has opened up a great opportunity for those that want to watch the World of Color, but did not get a Fastpass during the day. The light blue section in the picture above is where you want to be with at least 30 minutes before showtime.

Keep in mind that if you watch the 9pm show you will have people walking by you throughout the performance. However, if you watch the show at 10pm you will not have that much of an issue with people walking in front of you because the park is closed during the performance.

Be aware that this could change if the park closes at a later time.

I hope you enjoyed the tip and avoid the 405 freeway this weekend. :)

Disneyland: It was Cozy While it Lasted

Today Matterhorn begins its two month long rehab and this will be no ordinary rehab. Disney is set to change the way you experience the attraction with all new single seat ride vehicles.

Sure the two people in one seat vehicle design was a bit uncomfortable, but in certain situations it had a great benefit.

Test video from 2010

Mouse Expedition will miss it.

Disney Parks: D23 Convention Schedule

Disney's D23 is upon us and Disney has finally released its presentation schedule. Two years ago it was quite fun with all of the theme park announcements. This year Mouse Expedition will be attending the event on August 19th. Why August 19th? That is when Tom Staggs (Chairman of Walt Disney Parks) will take the stage and will discuss the latest from the Disney Parks division.

We expect to hear something on a new Marvel attraction at Disneyland and maybe some early news regarding Phase 2 of the California Adventure Expansion. Either way it should be interesting.

Tip of the Week: Paradise Pier at Night

The best way to experience Paradise Pier is at night. However, with the World of Color show performing nightly it can be quite hard to have this experience.

The first thing you should know is that California Screamin, King Triton's Carrousel, Mickey's Fun Wheel, Golden Zephyr, and Jumpin' Jellyfish all close for the night a half hour before the first World of Color Show.

However, The Little Mermaid Attraction, Goofy's Sky School, and Midway Mania are open during the World of Color. It is also the perfect time to experience these attractions since the waits tend to be short.

Please Note:
Symphony Swings reopens between shows.
